* Expected, not yet confirmed. Earlier quarter programs included San Francisco uncirculated coins and silver proofs, but the U.S. Mint has not announced either for this series. The S proof column is confirmed: the Mint lists the 2027 Youth Sports Quarters in its 2027 Proof Set.
What each column means
| P and D | Circulation strikes from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. These are the coins that will turn up in change and in bank rolls. |
|---|---|
| S proof | Mirror-finish proofs struck at San Francisco in the normal copper-nickel metal, sold to collectors in the annual Proof Set. |
| S unc. | San Francisco uncirculated coins, sold to collectors and not released into circulation, if the Mint continues the practice. |
| Silver proof | Proofs struck in silver for a separate silver proof set, if the Mint continues the practice. |
The 2027 Proof Set
The one version you can already reserve is the S proof. The U.S. Mint lists the 2027 Youth Sports Quarters in its annual 2027 Proof Set, together with the new Kennedy half dollar, a Native American dollar, and the dime, nickel and cent. It is sold by subscription at about $107, billed when it ships in 2027, with a product limit of 480,000 sets. Collectors who want only the five quarters in proof will have to wait to see whether the Mint offers a separate youth sports quarters proof set, as it did for the American Women Quarters.
2028 to 2030
The U.S. Mint named all 20 sports on 26 October 2026, so every row is already here. Only the 2027 designs exist so far; links to each later coin's page will be added as its design is published. The tick boxes you set stay in place when that happens.
Collecting tips for a new series
- Start with P and D from circulation. When the coins are released, a complete set of circulation strikes costs face value. Bank rolls hold 40 quarters for $10 and are the fastest way to search.
- Hold coins by the edge. Fingerprints on an uncirculated or proof surface are permanent.
- Never clean a coin. Cleaning removes the original surface and lowers its value.
- Use archival storage. Avoid soft plastic flips containing PVC, which leave a green residue.
- Be wary of early "rare" listings. In past programs, ordinary new quarters were listed online as rare or as errors within weeks of release. A new coin is not rare because it is new.
Frequently asked questions
- How many Youth Sports Quarters are there to collect?
- 20, five a year from 2027 to 2030, plus four Paralympic sports half dollars. Each comes in several versions, so a full set by mint mark is much larger.
- Is this checklist free?
- Yes. No sign-up and no email address. Ticks are saved in your own browser, and the page prints cleanly.
