2027 Baseball Quarter
Final design, announced 26 October 2026
The 2027 baseball quarter is one of the first five Youth Sports Quarters. A young batter stands ready at home plate with the bat raised above the shoulder, a crouching catcher behind, and a section of fence completing the scene. The U.S. Mint published the final design on 26 October 2026; it matches candidate BASE-01 in the review panels' portfolios. Its release date has not been announced.

The baseball quarter design
A young batter stands ready at home plate with the bat raised above the shoulder, a crouching catcher behind, and a section of fence completing the scene. The date 2027 runs across the bottom.
Baseball was the easiest call of the 2027 review. Both panels picked the same design, and both asked the Mint for one fix: a catcher's mask that sits on the face the way a real one does.
The front of the coin carries the new George Washington portrait shared by all 20 Youth Sports Quarters. See the obverse. The U.S. Mint had not published designer and sculptor credits as of 31 October 2026.
How the design was chosen
| Candidate designs | 8 (BASE-01 to BASE-09 (no BASE-06)) |
|---|---|
| CCAC recommendation | BASE-01, 22 of 33 points: highest score in the portfolio. Meeting of 24 February 2026. |
| CFA recommendation | Its reverse #1, chosen for its affinity with traditional American illustration and its asymmetrical composition. Meeting of 19 February 2026. |
| Final design | Matches BASE-01 (Both panels pick) |
| Final design published | 26 October 2026, by the U.S. Mint, without design codes |
The CCAC passed a separate motion, unanimously, asking the Mint to adjust the catcher's mask so it sat more naturally on the face. The CFA made the same request in its own words. The Commission also chose its softball design partly because it resembled this one, and the two finished coins do read as a pair.
The panels agreed, and their shared pick is the design on the coin.
