2027 Golf Quarter
Final design, announced 26 October 2026
The 2027 golf quarter is one of the first five Youth Sports Quarters. A young golfer finishes a swing with the club over the shoulder, set against the dimpled surface of a golf ball. The U.S. Mint published the final design on 26 October 2026; it matches candidate GOLF-07 in the review panels' portfolios. Its release date has not been announced.

The golf quarter design
A young golfer finishes a swing with the club over the shoulder, set against the dimpled surface of a golf ball. GOLF runs along the bottom rim and 2027 sits in a panel at the right.
Golf produced the closest vote of the 2027 review. The CCAC's top two designs tied on points, the Commission of Fine Arts chose a third design altogether, and the CCAC's pick is the one on the coin.
The front of the coin carries the new George Washington portrait shared by all 20 Youth Sports Quarters. See the obverse. The U.S. Mint had not published designer and sculptor credits as of 31 October 2026.
How the design was chosen
| Candidate designs | 11 (GOLF-01 to GOLF-11) |
|---|---|
| CCAC recommendation | GOLF-07, 15 of 33 points: tied with GOLF-02 at 15 points; GOLF-07 won a roll-call vote 6 to 5. Meeting of 24 February 2026. |
| CFA recommendation | Its reverse #4, chosen for its composition of three figures and the clever placement of the golf ball and flag as part of the word Golf. Meeting of 19 February 2026. |
| Final design | Matches GOLF-07 (CCAC pick) |
| Final design published | 26 October 2026, by the U.S. Mint, without design codes |
GOLF-07 and GOLF-02 both scored 15 of 33, the lowest winning score of any 2027 sport. Members argued over whether the child's swing in each design was accurate before a roll-call vote went 6 to 5 for GOLF-07.
The CFA recommended its design #4 instead, three young golfers with the ball and flag worked into the word Golf. The Treasury Secretary went with the CCAC.
The Secretary chose the CCAC's pick. The CFA's three-figure design was not used.
