About Youth Sports Quarters
This site follows the U.S. Mint's Youth Sports Quarters from the first design reviews to the last coin of 2030: which sports are chosen, how each design is picked, when each coin is released, how many are struck, and what they are worth once they exist.
Why this site exists
A new coin series is written about long before anyone holds one, and the early coverage is thin. A few news items get repeated, and pages written months ago keep saying the sports are unknown after they have been announced. One published write-up of the 2027 designs names runner-up designs that do not match the committee's own minutes. The public record behind all of it, the review panels' letters and minutes, is detailed and free, but it sits in PDFs few people read.
The aim here is to be the site that is correct, and to say plainly what is not known yet.
Editorial standards
- Primary records first. Facts come from the law, the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts and the U.S. Mint. Each page lists the records it relies on.
- Recommended is not final. Every design is labeled with who recommended it until the Treasury Secretary selects it and the Mint publishes it. The 2027 designs became final on 26 October 2026; each later year's designs are handled the same way.
- Unknown stays unknown. Release dates, mintages and future designs are left as not announced rather than filled with guesses. Where this site points to a likely outcome, it says it is an expectation.
- Values from real sales. Once the coins exist, values will come from realized sales, not asking prices.
- Corrections in public. Every page carries a last-verified date, and corrections are stated, not quietly edited.
What the site will cover as the series unfolds
- Final designs for each sport, with the designer and sculptor credits the Mint publishes.
- Release dates for each coin and for rolls, bags and sets.
- Mintages for Philadelphia and Denver from the Mint's production figures, and which coin of the series turns out to be the scarcest.
- Values from realized sales, and a clear line between genuine mint errors and ordinary damage.
- Each new year's designs from the moment the candidates reach the review panels.
How it is kept current
The CCAC and CFA agendas, the Federal Register meeting notices and the U.S. Mint's press releases are checked for new information on the series. When the Mint publishes final designs, release dates or production figures, the affected pages are updated and their verified date moves.
Who publishes it
Youth Sports Quarters is published by Grand Valley Domains, LLC of Fruita, Colorado, which runs a small group of independent reference and guide sites.
